The latest outing for Ladies 1st Team will have to be completed later in the season as rain and poor light prevented completion of the final three sets.  This fixture saw two of last years pairings reunited for the first time this season.

Lesley and Catherine started off really well in their first set and were in the lead by 6 games to 1.  Unfortunately the David Lloyd pair caught up and the set went to a tie break. The scoreline got to 6 all in the tie break but they just beat us in the end. Lesley and Catherine's other sets went to 9-3 and 9-4 to the opposition.

 

Pauline and Nikki’s scores were 9-3, 9-3 and 9-0 and Chris and Val’s scores were 9-2, 9-2 and 9-0.

Congratulations to the members of the Men's 2nd Team who recorded their first win in over 3 years,  defeating Hinckley 6-3 at home.  (The ladies might even forgive you for 'stealing' our match night :-) )

Everything started well and Oaks were up 6-0 & 5-0  in two of the first sets but then Hinckley came back into these matches. In the end Oaks took 2 out of the first 3 sets.

At last, a pleasantly warm evening for a game of tennis.  This weeks our Ladies 1st Team were away at Roundhills in Leicester. 
Helen and Pauline started well matching their opponents game for game and eventually earning a slight advantage at 6-4 only to see that slip away until they finally lost their first set 7-9.  The second set followed a similar pattern with the Oaks pair gaining the advantage to lead 8-5 only to see the next two games go to their opponents making it 8-7.  Determined no...

The club draw for Wimbledon Tickets took place in the club house on Friday 7th May. Congratulations to the lucky winners; Steve; Kerry; both Pauline's and Katie.

Thanks go to our Social Secretary, Chris, for providing the wine and nibbles to help the evening along and to raise some much needed funds for the club.

This last week saw the start of the 2010 Inter-club leagues.

On a very cold Monday 3rd May the brand new Ladies 2nd Team played their first match in the new 7A Division.  This was a tough introduction to league tennis for the new players who lost to a strong Charnwood 7th, away at Charnwood - 0-9. As often seems to be the case there were a lot of deuces that we were unable to convert into games.  The 2nd Team will face a return match at home on 16th June.
